Motor Trade policyholders - MID submission routes
An EU directive requires Motor Traders to inform the Motor Insurance Database (M.I.D.) of all taxed vehicles in their custody or control for 15 days or more. In addition the trade plate used for untaxed vehicles should be notified (vehicle never driven in a public place are exempt from notification).
It is important that all permanent and temporary motor vehicle changes are notified to both your insurers (via Dawson Whyte Ltd) and in addition the M.I.D. (via yourselves).
Failure to do so could invalidate your insurance policy and any person failing to supply this information to the M.I.D. or maintain records will be liable, on conviction, to a fine of up to £5,000.
Fleet policyholders - MID submission routes
The Motor Insurance Database (MID) requirements arising from the 4th EU directive imposes a legal requirement that all motor vehicle changes, temporary or permanent, to the MID within 14 days.
To check you are complying with your responsibilities under the MID and obtain addtional information on the purpose of the MID we would ask you access the MID website on www.miic.org.uk/fleet
Failure to comply with your MID requirements would invalidate your insurance policy and any person failing to supply this information correctly or maintain records could, on conviction, make you liable for a fine up to £5,000.
